    Remote Access To The Registry    
    -OS Related

To grant or restrict access through network registry on a XP based PC you
need to modify the permissions on the responsible key.By default only
members of the Administrators Group and Backup Operators Group have
access over network registry.To modify permissions click your way down to:

- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
\Control\SecurePipeServers\winreg\


It is possible that you need to create the keys when you do not find them under
Control.(Right click the Control subkey , new key , name it: SecurePipeServers
Right click now SecurePipeServers , new key , and name it : winreg)

Add now in winreg in the right pane a new REG_SZ [String Value] (right click ,
new , REG_SZ [String Value]) and name it :


Description

Doubleclick the new created entry and enter as String :

Registry Server


Now select the winreg subkey in the left pane and right click it.Choose
Permissions and edit the permissions or add users or groups to whom you
want to grant access via network registry.
This needs a restart.
