You can make a backup of your current desktop arrangement
by exporting the following registry key :


- HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\Software\Microsoft\Windows
\Shell\1\Desktop\


Right click the Desktop key and select Export.
Specify location where to save the exportet .reg file.
To restore these settings double click the exportet .reg file.


Note :

I did not test what happens restoring these settings to a later time,
where programs with shortcuts associated to them on the desktop
had been uninstalled.Errormessages could be possible or the
icons of that programs will be displayed default.
